Thanks Floyd, One of the coolest things is that you can find this fabric in an endless assortment of patterns, colors and some very cool theme designs. My next project with it is wheel covers with the star spangled pattern. I'll post it here when I finish.

Interesting - thanks for posting this. I have a V-Rex that I picked up last month, and had a Rans Vivo about 10 years back. Always thought the black seat cover was a bit blah. I'll have to enlist my daughter, who's quite skilled with the sewing machine, to help me with a new cover this winter.

And once again I need to acknowledge the owner of the original Riv-ish Tour Easy. The SXP is a dramatic departure from the original 20 26 design yet it retains much of the character of the original in terms of comfort handling and frame layout. The Javelin is a dramatic departure from this original design and uses a monotube frame comprised of a single oversize 4130 chromoly tube that runs from the headset to behind the seat where it attaches to the rear triangle.

It really is an easy mod and in just a few miles you will forget they are any different than normal. I went through the same ideas and the twist grips were just about impossible to use when they are covered in sweat during our NC Summers. Send along some pictures after you make the changes and good luck.

This is a mod I was considering for my wife's home-built tadpole. It currently has bar-end shifters as yours did, and I thought she would have troubles with those. Changing to twist grip shifters didn't appeal to her, thinking she might accidently shift gears as she steered the trike. So, looking at my Trek MTB which has Shimano trigger shifters, I thought this would be the way to change her bike. I placed my right hand on the left hand shifter and was easily able to shift the gears using my thumb and forefinger as you mentioned. I love the way my Trek shifts and know my wife would like to have quick and accurate gear changes. Seeing this change in reality will make it easier to convince her this is the best choice for her.

For what it's worth... As far as shimano and their associated SRAM counterparts go. The FD's have a different pull ratio. Thus the difficulty in running a road derailuer with MTB shifters, such as grip or trigger shifters.

All rear derailuers in that camp (except for certain models of Dura Ace) have the same amount of cable pull, and thus should be compatible no matter road or mountain.

Saw you guys on part of your journey when you came through Hampstead, NC this year. I am a disabled vet from wounds I received in VietNam back in '67, and just started biking to get some weight off and build up the body some. Would love to participate in part or all of next years ride if possible. Please keep me in the loop on when and where it will be.
Thanks,
Tony Tomes

Mike,
Thanks for the comments. It is a hobby that has gotten the better of I am afraid. (recumbent bikes that is). If you ever get in the area drop by for a ride.
